Welcome to Dad's Academy

Dad's Academy is your school away from school. Don't groan and roll your eyes. You will find that we cover all kinds of subjects. The goal is to make you use your noodle. Most classes take between 5 and 15 minutes (if your not distracted by your friend's texts).
Once you complete a lesson in Dad's Academy you qualify to enjoy some free time (with your phone, iTouch, Wii or good old fashioned brain numbing TV).

Introduction: Why do I have to learn things in the summer?

Why do I have to learn things in the summer (when school is out)?  There are so many reasons...  Here are ten:

Assignment 1:  Pick one of the facts and try to demonstrate that it is true (or suggest how you would prove it to be true if it would take materials and time that you don't have in 10 minutes).

Assignment 2:  Write a comment (on this site) about your favorite part of this first lesson.

  1. The coolest fact is probably that chainsaws were originally invented to assist with child birth. That is disturbing but interesting considering now we use them for lumber work or, if your a psychopathic murderer, to terrorize people. But the one that I would try to prove would be that you never shuffle a deck of cards the same way twice. I would demonstrate this, if I had the time, by shuffling a deck of cards about twenty times and then laying out the deck so that you could see the order it ended up in. Of course this wouldn't necessarily prove it but I feel that it would demonstrate the point.

  2. Hi this is Jack. I agree with Logan that it is weird that they would use chain saws with child birth assist. I would like to try doing the pencil trick and drawing a line for 35 miles. Maybe I could tie it to a car and watch it go.

  3. I like the Oreos one. Where if you stack all the Oreos that they made then it would go up to the moon and back more that 5 times! Wow! That is 238,900 miles!! That's sure some hard work. I know I couldn't get it to the moon but, I could see how far I could go! ~Morgan Bunch:)

    1. Morgan, Thanks for your comments. It is hard work for sure. Can you imagine how difficult it would be to eat that many Oreos! I hope you enjoy the lessons in Dad's Academy.

  4. I have a question...does rule number 5 only apply to said headmistress in the Wicke household or can it be applied to satellite campuses let's say in Utah?

    1. Policy # 1.2a states that every satellite campus must employ and retain their own headmistress. This is partly because every male head of household associated with said satellite campuses likes to claim the association of a said mistress....
